New Timbers crest finally debuts!
After a long wait, Timbers fans will finally get a chance to see the new Timbers MLS logo when it's debuted during halftime of the USA vs. England World Cup game. The Timbers will be hosting viewing of the World Cup matchup at Directors Park in downtown Portland, with the logo set to debut at halftime. MLS and players reach agreement on Collective Bargaining Agreement
March 20 should be a holday for the soon-to-come Major League Soccer Portland Timbers, as it was the date (in 2009) when the new franchise was announced, and in 2010, it brings the announcement that Major League Soccer and the Major League Soccer Players Union have reached an agreement in principle on a new collective bargaining agreement that will avert a possible 2010 strike, and would have been a huge wrench in the planning of the Timbers entering the league in 2011.
The new agreement will be valid for five years.

| Portland is "Soccer City USA" |
Portland was known as "Soccer City USA" during the heyday of the Timbers in the 1970's, and has maintained that reputation, even without a professional team calling the city home for several years. After a US National Team 1-0 victory over Costa Rica at Civic Stadium in 1997, the players described the fans as the best the US National Team had ever seen. That excitement returned to Portland in 2001 as the newest member of the A-League, the Portland Timbers, had the 2nd highest attendance in the league, had two crowds over 11,000, and advanced to the second round of the playoffs in their first year.
